What is the Oasis of Eternity?
The Oasis of Eternity is a provider of natural burials in Switzerland. In cooperation with Atelier Magnolia Bestattungen, you can have the ashes of your deceased loved one interred in a place in the Swiss Alps – on an alpine meadow, by a mountain stream, under a tree, or by a rock.
The idea behind it: The deceased returns to the natural cycle. There is no tombstone that weathers. No cemetery that you have to maintain. Only a place in nature – open, free, and imperishable.
You are free to choose this place: You can choose the deceased’s favorite place, a spot that had special meaning for you both – or simply a place in nature that feels right to you. We will help you with this.
For many families, this is a profound relief.
Is the Oasis of Eternity legal?
Yes – and that is a crucial point.
In Germany, cemetery obligation applies: The ashes of the deceased must be interred in an approved cemetery. A free natural burial is not legally permitted in this country – even if the deceased’s wish explicitly pointed in this direction.
In Switzerland, it’s different. In many Swiss cantons, relatives can freely dispose of the ashes of the deceased. The Oasis of Eternity operates in cantons where this regulation applies. The burial takes place on Swiss soil – and is completely legal there.
What does this mean for you as a family from Germany? You only need to ensure that the ashes are transferred to Switzerland after cremation. We will take care of that for you.

What types of burial are available – and what do they cost?
Alpine Meadow Burial, Mountain Stream Burial, Ashes to the Wind
The ashes are placed on an alpine meadow, scattered in a mountain stream, or released into the wind – in a place in nature, without a fixed grave site. This form is particularly for people who did not want a connection to a specific place – but rather freedom.

Community Tree or Community Rock
The ashes are interred by a shared memorial tree or memorial rock. Each deceased person receives a personal nameplate. This creates a place you can visit – and where you know he or she is.

For families who wish to reserve their own place: The ashes are interred by their own tree or rock – with a nameplate, with space for additional family members. Includes two paid grave sites.

How does the burial proceed?
We take care of everything – from cremation and transfer of the ashes to the ceremony in the Swiss Alps. You decide whether you want to be present or whether the interment is carried out by the Oasis of Eternity team on your behalf.
Those who wish to be present will experience a quiet, dignified ceremony in nature. No protocol, no obligation – just the farewell you envision.
If you cannot or do not wish to travel, photos of the location can be sent upon request. Some families also choose a memorial service in Berlin – and have the actual interment take place in Switzerland afterwards. This is also possible.

Can I visit the location later?
That depends on the chosen type of burial. With a community or family tree or rock, you have a specific location with a nameplate that you can visit at any time. With an alpine meadow or mountain stream burial, there is no fixed grave site – but a region in nature that belongs to you.
How far in advance do I need to plan the burial?

Can I also choose the Oasis of Eternity for pre-arrangement?
Yes. If you wish to plan your own farewell in advance, you can do so with us. We also accompany you with funeral pre-arrangement – so that your wishes are implemented exactly as you envision them.
Is there a difference between the Oasis of Eternity and FriedWald?
Both are forms of natural burial, but with different approaches. In FriedWald, the ashes are interred at the root area of a tree in Germany, on an officially approved FriedWald site. The Oasis of Eternity takes place in Switzerland and offers more freedom in choosing the location: alpine meadow, mountain stream, private tree, or rock. In Switzerland, it is also possible to hand over the ashes to relatives, which is not legally permitted in Germany.
What happens to the ashes before they arrive in Switzerland?
